The California Air Resources Board (CARB), Dept. of Conservation and other state agencies are coalescing for workshops to get public input on burying carbon, also known as geologic sequestration, according to the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA).
The workshops are to implement SB 359, the Carbon Capture, Removal, Utilization, and Storage Program, which passed in 2022 and authorizes investigation of opportunities to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) through sequestration.
The first workshop will be August 27 in Stockton, with future ones expected in Bakersfield and Los Angeles.
CalCIMA issued a reminder that CARB will hold its workshop on Aug. 19 regarding how best to invest funds to achieve low carbon freight movement, particularly around disadvantaged communities.
