September Cement Shipments Jump Nearly 10% 

Total shipments of portland and blended cement, including imports, in the United States and Puerto Rico in September 2025 were an estimated 9.83 million metric tons (Mt), a 9.7% increase from shipments in September 2024, according to the most recent USGS Mineral Industry Survey. Shipments for the year through September totaled an estimated 76.4 Mt, a 1.9% decrease from those for the same period in 2024.

Of total blended tonnage reported year-to-date in 2025, 47.2 Mt (95%) was estimated to be portland-limestone cement (Type IL); the leading destination for Type IL shipments by tonnage was Texas.

The leading producing states for portland and blended cement in September 2025 were, in descending order, Texas, Missouri, California, Florida and Michigan; these states accounted for 38.1% of cement produced. The leading cement-consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois, in descending order) received 37.2% of shipments in September.

Masonry cement shipments totaled an estimated 186,000 metric tons in September 2025, a 6.7% increase from those in September 2024. Shipments for the year through September totaled an estimated 1.62 Mt, a decrease of 3.4% from those for the same period in 2024. The leading masonry cement-consuming states in September were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, California and Georgia; these states received 53.6% of shipments during the month.

Clinker production, excluding Puerto Rico, totaled an estimated 6.28 Mt in September 2025, a 5.9% increase from that in September 2024. Production for the year through September totaled an estimated 50.1 Mt, a 4.9% decrease from the same period in 2024. The leading clinker-producing States in September 2025 were, in descending order, Missouri, Texas, California, Florida and Alabama.
