According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), total shipments of portland and blended cement, including imports, in the United States and Puerto Rico in February 2026 were an estimated 6.80 million metric tons (Mt), an 11.3% increase from shipments in February 2025.
Shipments for the year through February totaled an estimated 12.8 Mt, a 7.5% increase from those for the same period in 2025.
Of total blended tonnage reported year-to-date in 2026, 7.59 Mt (96%) was estimated to be portland limestone cement (Type IL); the leading destination for Type IL shipments by tonnage was Texas.
The leading producing states for portland and blended cement in February 2026 were, in descending order, Texas, Missouri, California, Florida and Alabama. The leading cement-consuming states (Texas, Florida, California, Georgia and Arizona, in descending order) received 48.3% of shipments in February.
Masonry cement shipments totaled an estimated 127,000 Mt in February 2026, a 15.6% decrease from those in February 2025. Shipments for the year through February totaled an estimated 269,000 t, a decrease of 8.6% from those for the same period in 2025.
The leading masonry-cement-consuming states in February 2026 were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, California and North Carolina; these states received 60% of shipments in February.
Clinker production, excluding Puerto Rico, totaled an estimated 3.92 Mt in February 2026, a 3.7% increase from that in February 2025. Production for the year through February totaled an estimated 8.63 Mt, a 6% increase from the same period in 2025 (revised). The leading clinker-producing states in February 2026 were, in descending order, Texas, California, Florida, Alabama and Missouri.
Data for clinker imports into the Detroit and Seattle customs districts do not include material trucked in from Canada on an informal-entry basis.
Monthly imports can show significant year-over-year changes for a variety of reasons and commonly do not correlate well with consumption levels in the respective import districts in the same month. February 2026 imports of cement and clinker, including the San Juan, Puerto Rico, customs district, totaled 1.28 Mt, a 31.4% decrease from February 2025.
Imports for the year through February totaled 3.08 Mt, a decrease of 8.7% from those for the same period in 2025.
An estimate for cement imported by independent importers not participating in the USGS surveys is collected but import volumes do not correlate well with consumption levels by domestic final customers in many of the respective import districts. Customs districts affected include, but are not limited to, Houston-Galveston; Miami; New Orleans; Philadelphia; Savannah, Ga.; and Tampa, Fla.
