The American Cement Association (ACA) will hold its Virtual Sustainability Summit Aug. 25-27. All sessions will be held live from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Registration cost is free.
Day 1:
UNACEM North America’s CEO Rafael Villalona will open the show and set the stage for three days of meaningful conversations about the industry’s shared goals.
Then, ACA’s Senior Director, Economic Policy and Analytics, Brian Schmidt will highlight progress toward the ACA Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality and where the cement industry stands today.
Keynote speaker, Brian Potter, will talk technology transitions and why efficiency is foundational for sustainable outcomes.
He will be followed by a panel of industry insiders who will discuss how cement manufacturers have kept their eyes on the Roadmap’s biggest facilitator: Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage — amid significant shifts in federal funding and policy.
Listen in as moderator Kathryn Clay of Washington Post Intelligence asks these panelists their CCUS perspectives:
- John Carroll, Southern Co., National Carbon Capture Center.
- John Kline, Kline Consulting LLC.
- Martin Schneider, VDZ, European Cement Research Academy.
The day will wrap up with a second panel discussion: “Fundamentals of the Roadmap and Cement and Concrete Value Chain.”
The discussion will center on why industry decarbonization won’t happen without coordinated efforts of the entire value chain. These panelists will give you a clearer understanding of how decisions at each stage influence outcomes across the entire symphony of value chain links.
Panelists include:
- Brad Runda, ICF.
- Larry Rowland, Heidelberg Materials.
- Alana Guzzetta, CalPortland.
- Moh Ismail, University of Virginia.
- Rachel Capon, Mineral Products Association.
