Heidelberg Brings the Community to Its Operations

Over the past several months, Heidelberg sites across North America have welcomed elected officials, community leaders, neighbors and families through a series of site visits and open houses designed to provide a firsthand look at its people, operations and commitment to responsible stewardship.

“At Heidelberg Materials, building materials are only part of what we do. We also work to build strong relationships with the communities where we operate,” the company stated.

In recent months, Heidelberg Materials hosted several elected officials at operations across North America, including visits from Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.), Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.), and Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Pa.) These visits provided an opportunity for policymakers to learn more about operations, workforce, sustainability initiatives and the critical role our industry plays in supporting infrastructure and economic growth.

“One of the most valuable things we can do is open our doors and show people what happens inside our operations,” said David Perkins, senior vice president, sustainability & public affairs, Heidelberg Materials North America. “Whether we’re hosting elected officials or community members, these visits help build understanding and trust. They allow us to showcase our employees, explain how our materials support modern life and have meaningful conversations about the importance of manufacturing, infrastructure, sustainability and workforce development in the communities we serve.”

Community open houses created another opportunity to connect directly with our neighbors. At the Bridgeport Quarry in Chico, Texas, nearly 500 guests attended an open house to learn about the mining process, tour the quarry, explore equipment displays and meet the team members who help supply materials for the growing region.

In Nazareth, Pa., community members were welcomed to learn more about cement manufacturing, engage with employees and gain a better understanding of the essential role the company’s operations play in building and maintaining local infrastructure.

“As we continue to welcome visitors to our operations across North America, we hope these experiences help people better understand the essential role our industry plays in everyday life,” the company stated. “From the aggregates used in local roads to the cement that helps build critical infrastructure, our employees take great pride in producing the materials that support growing communities. Opening our doors gives us an opportunity to share that story, build lasting relationships, and showcase the value our operations bring to the places we call home.”
