Under a new enterprise artificial intelligence transformation offering, Berlin-based alcemy GmbH will expand from a cement and concrete quality optimization program developer to a service provider helping producers build the data infrastructure, organizational capabilities, and AI platform required to unlock the industry’s full output potential.
The alcemy Foundation Partnership launch rests on the emergence of large language model platforms powering agentic AI. As with peers in other industrial environments, agentic AI positions cement and concrete operators to harness and exploit machine and plant or fleet equipment data toward previously unforeseen productivity levels. The technology yields “agents” ready to deliver user-defined applications or dashboards from data sets contextualized and harmonized by service providers like alcemy.

“AI is transforming industries faster than any technology we’ve seen before. It has transformed the way we work at alcemy within months, yet most cement and concrete producers still lack the foundations to fully benefit from it,” says CEO Leopold Spenner. “Our strength has always been the combination of cement and concrete expertise, data science, and an unwavering dedication to solving the industry’s biggest challenges together with our clients.”
Scheduled for a limited Q3 2026 release, the alcemy Foundation Partnership addresses a fundamental barrier to AI adoption in cement and concrete production: the gap between successful pilot projects and enterprise-wide deployment. Many producers have demonstrated value through individual AI initiatives in plant operations, only to see broader deployments stall because internal teams lack the organizational and technical foundations required to scale AI across operations and sustain long-term ROI.
alcemy presents the Foundation Partnership as a comprehensive co-development program designed to help producers build lasting competitive advantage through data infrastructure and workforce capability. The program sequence includes:
- Mapping of data silos across their plants and assessment of whether their data is centralized enough to share with third parties.
- Review existing AI use, including third-party system technology and internal machine learning programs.
- Evaluation of people and skills, from management office to plant floors, to gauge who is managing AI use and driving culture change.
- ROI roadmap development, where alcemy team members lay out the immediate and mid- to long-term partnership returns.
The launch will leverage field experience alcemy has gained over an eight-year period with teams at 45 cement and 160-plus concrete plants across 18 countries. Installations of the firm’s AI-powered finishing mill and concrete mix design technology have included regional operations of Buzzi Unicem, CRH, Titan Group and Votorantim Cimentos. Titan Group recently enlisted alcemy for broader deployment of AI tools proved at the Titan America Pennsuco Cement Plant finishing mill. The alcemy program has run in tandem at the south Florida facility with the preventive maintenance technology of Titan Group-incubated CemAI, which processes data from machine- or equipment-mounted sensors.
Under a “Your data. Your people. Your platform.” Foundation Partnership tagline, alcemy sees producers establishing a unified AI-ready data backbone within their own AWS or cloud environment. That backbone will collect fragmented information from plant controls, programs, devices and retrofitted sensors into a single foundation that supports numerous AI applications simultaneously. Critically, the offering embeds the human capability required to sustain AI at scale. Internal champions will receive dedicated alcemy mentors and hands-on training to build their own dashboards and applications, manage third-party AI systems, and lead AI adoption within their organizations.
Upskilling and change management happen alongside technical implementation, alcemy officials note, resulting in a self-reinforcing flywheel: Better data infrastructure enables better AI applications. Better AI applications strengthen internal capabilities. Stronger teams continuously improve the platform, creating compounding ROI while reducing long-term dependence on external vendors.
Measuring the depth of cement- and concrete-specific AI tools and technology on the market, alcemy presents their Foundation Partnership as the only product embodying six traits essential to AI adoption and program ROI: Native and agentic AI; cement and concrete DNA; Internet of Things-native; adoption and culture; start-up speed; and “you-own-it” model.
As part of a renewed vision, alcemy also announced AI application software upgrades. alcemy for Cement is advancing autonomous mill operations and alcemy for Concrete is moving toward autonomous concrete recipe control. As part of building an open ecosystem for autonomous operations, alcemy has entered into a strategic partnership with ABB, a global leader in plant automation and power transmission. The partnership focuses on deep integration between alcemy’s AI-powered prediction and optimization technology and ABB’s Advanced Process Control and Plant Information Management systems, enabling faster deployments and a more seamless route to autonomous operations. — alcemy.tech
